Disaster Volunteers and Donations

Whenever a disaster/emergency strikes, as Leon County Emergency Management and disaster response organizations work to respond to and recover from the event, volunteers will be needed to support this effort. If you are interested in assisting by volunteering, please provide us your information. Whenever there is a need for disaster volunteers we will then be able to message you information on the current needs and how to connect with organizations that are requesting assistance.

Visit VolunteerLEON's website for the Leon County Disaster Volunteer & Donation Registration form and to learn more.

Pay It Forward

Help Support Local Businesses and Nonprofits through the Pay It Forward Initiative

On April 15, Leon County in collaboration with Shop Tally with Swellcoin launched its Pay It Forward Initiative, which is a web-based shopping portal that gives customers the opportunity to purchase gift cards from local businesses and immediately donate those cards to support nonprofits on the frontline of providing services to those in need.

To participate, individuals can visit www.ishoptally.com, find their favorite local business, click the Pay It Forward Icon, choose their gift card amount and select a nonprofit to donate to. Businesses will follow up with individuals for payment and then they will give the gift card directly to the selected nonprofit. Businesses and nonprofits interested in participating in the initiative can also register on the site. More here.

Animal Shelter/Rescue Support

Sick of self-isolating? Now is the perfect time to support the Tallahassee Animal Service Center, Leon County Humane Society and other local rescues through fostering or adopting a new furry friend. A lot of our local rescues are unable to host adoption events at this time and as the weather warms ups, more puppies and kittens are being born, meaning there is a need for fosters and adopters. Another reason fostering is important is, at this time, the National Animal Control Association, the Humane Society of the United States and many others recommend reducing animal intakes and opening up additional space within the shelter so there will be space available for any animals that may enter the facility due to COVID-19.
