Responsibility:
Responsible for determining appeals of code-related (LDRs) interpretations and granting variances to the provisions of the LDRs based on documented hardship. Board must keep minutes of its proceedings showing the vote of each member ... and shall keep record of its examinations and other official actions which shall be immediately filed in the office of the Board of Adjustment & Appeals.

County DSEM responsibilities include application intake, preparation of recommendations for BCC review and action, developing and distribution BOAA agendas and notifying the public and interested parties of BOAA meetings (Revised by BCC action on March 19, 1996).

Appointments:
7 total members:
3 - appointed by the Board of County Commissioners
3 - appointed by the City Commission
1 - appointed alternately by BCC and City - (BCC appointed in 2015; City appointed in 2012)

1 - Alternate may be appointed by each the BCC and the City, who shall serve at the meeting in the event that their presence is needed to constitute a quorum.

Terms:
3-year terms expiring on June 30. Members shall not serve more than two (2) full consecutive terms on the Board, whether appointed by the City Commission or the County Commission, per 2008 bylaws. Vacancies filled for the remainder of the unexpired term. 

Eligibility Criteria:
Members must be a resident of Leon County, an owner of real property, and a taxpayer per bylaws.

Members must file a Financial Disclosure Form #1 from the Florida Commission on Ethics, per State Statute 112.3145. 

Schedule:
Monthly meetings, the 2nd Thursday of each month @ 1:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Center
