Responsibility:
Acts as an advisory committee to the City and County Commissions, other governmental agencies within the metropolitan area, individuals, and private agencies seeking its advice and assistance in comprehensive area-wide planning and development of the Tallahassee area.

The Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Commission was established by interlocal agreement on September 26, 1967, between Leon County and the City of Tallahassee. This agreement designated the Planning Commission as the entity responsible for comprehensive area wide planning within the City of Tallahassee and Leon County. The Planning Commission is also the designated Local Planning Agency (LPA) that reviews amendments to the Comprehensive Plan. Duties and responsibilities of the Planning Commission and the LPA are set forth in the Planning Commission Bylaws as well as the interlocal agreement and local land development codes for the City and County.

A chairman and vice chairman are elected by the Planning Commissioners for a one-year term in September.

Terms:
3-year terms, expiring on June 30th. Members may be reappointed, no term limit specified in bylaws. Vacancies are filled for remainder of unexpired term. 

Eligibility Criteria:
All members must be residents of Leon County. Membership shall be composed of citizens who reside in different areas of Leon County. Efforts shall be made to appoint a representative member of elderly, minority and disabled citizens to the commission.

Members must file a Financial Disclosure Form #1 from the Florida Commission on Ethics, per State Statute 112.3145. 

Schedule:
Meetings held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, which is 8 days after the first meeting of each month, at 8:30 a.m.
