Teen Poetry Slam

April is Poetry Month and teens are invited to present their original poems at the annual poetry slam. 2014 Poetry Slam is Tuesday, April 8 at 6:00p.m., at the Main Library. Space is limited, please register by phone: 606-2708, at any library location, or the online application below.

The Rules

  1. The poet must sign up in person at any library location or at library website under the Teen’s Page or the Teen Happenings calendar.
  2. The poet must present his/her original poetry.
  3. The poet should be prepared to perform 3 poems.
    One poem will be performed per round for 3 rounds.
  4. Each poet gets 3 minutes to perform/read each poem. If the poet goes over the allotted time, points will be deducted from the total score.
  5. The poet may not use props, costumes, or musical instruments. Also, the poet may not use profanity or overly explicit lyrics. Use of such devices or language will result in dis-qualification.
  6. There will be three guest judges.
  7. Judges’ score is based equally on the poem and the performance.
