Mission Statement
To build partnerships and administer programs that preserve and grow the inventory of safe and sanitary affordable housing in Leon County.
The Division's major programs are income driven and include owner-occupied rehabilitation, home buyer counseling, down-payment assistance, and emergency home repairs. Most of our programs are funded through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program and the Housing Finance Authority of Leon County. Programs and Services Provided
Emergency Roof Tarps
The Leon County Division of Housing Services has a limited supply of free emergency roof tarps available for Leon County residents with roof damage.
Interested Leon County residents should contact the Division of Housing Services at (850) 606-1900 in advance to check availability. Tarps can be picked up in our office (615 Paul Russell Rd.) during normal business hours or may be delivered to you upon request if you are not able to pick one up from the office. Please contact our office for additional information.

Mobile Home Emergency Repairs
The Mobile Home Emergency Repair Program primarily assists low-income Leon County mobile homeowner-occupants who need repairs related to immediate health hazards and/or to eliminate a developing threat to the dwelling or its infrastructure that needs to be mitigated immediately. Typically, projects are funded as grant assistance. However, more costly repairs may require a deferred payment, forgivable, noninterest-bearing loan.
Emergency Home Repairs most often include a damaged/leaking roof, damaged windows causing exposure to the elements, electrical, plumbing, or septic problems that could cause damage to the home, or to remediate an immediate health hazard to the occupants.
Applications will be accepted beginning Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 10 a.m., and will be accepted until sufficient applications have been received to expend available funding. Utilizing program guidelines, applications will be reviewed and eligible projects may begin thereafter.
Please Note: Applications will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Staff support will be available beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, by appointment only. Home Rehabilitation/Emergency Home Repair Program (Non-Mobile Home)
Funds will be awarded to eligible homeowners living in the unincorporated areas of Leon County in need of rehabilitation of their home related to a dire situation that needs to be mitigated immediately via a short term and/or permanent repair most typically funded by a deferred payment, forgivable, noninterest-bearing loan, although grants for minimal, temporary repairs may be provided.

If you live inside City limits (Tax Code 1), please contact the City of Tallahassee for emergency repairs on non-mobile home dwellings.

Notice of Funding Registration
Our rehabilitation and replacement programs require applicants attend one (1) Housing Services Workshop prior to applications opening. The workshops are to provide attendees with information about our program, and helpful information on how to apply. Homeownership Development (HOD) Program (Developers Only)
The Homeownership Development (HOD) Program is one of the Division of Housing Services' strategies to grow the inventory of affordable housing in Leon County. The HOD Program is designed to provide funding to for-profit and not-for-profit organizations for the development of homes for low-income first-time homebuyers.
