 Children’s Services Council Applications Sought

Leon County Government is currently seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in serving on the Children’s Services Council (CSC) of Leon County. In accordance with Florida Statute, the CSC will be comprised of ten members, five of which will be appointed by the Governor from a list of 15 candidates submitted by the Leon County Board of County Commissioners.

All applications must be completed and submitted electronically no later than January 13, 2021 at LeonCountyFL.gov/CSCApplication. To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of Leon County for the previous 24-month period and willing to submit an annual Statement of Financial Interests Form.

Approved by voters during the November 2020 General Election, the newly formed special district will be responsible for funding children's services throughout the County by levying ad valorem taxes estimated at up to $8 million annually. The CSC will function to support organizations that serve children and families in Leon County and will work to identity children’s needs in the community, target those needs with evidence-based programs and evaluate results.

As part of the application, applicants are asked to attach a resume or provide a brief explanation of how their skills, experience, or educational background will contribute to the CSC. Additionally, Florida Statute requires that, to the extent possible, those appointed represent the demographic diversity of the population of Leon County. To assure the fullest consideration, applications should thoroughly respond to each question.
