Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge to Participate in

White House Meeting

Thursday, June 8, Leon County Commissioner and President of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Bryan Desloge will attend a White House Infrastructure Event to discuss how federal dollars can be strategically used in targeted ways to incentivize State, local, and private sector investments.

At the event, Desloge and other bi-partisan state and local leaders will attend a meeting with the President of the United States to discuss the Administration’s policies on transportation, water, and energy infrastructure systems

“Our nation’s counties own nearly half of all roadways and bridges,” said Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge. “My time at the White House will be spent discussing the critical importance of the Administration’s policies when it comes to ensuring the safety and proper maintenance of infrastructure to counties like Leon County.”

Last year, Desloge also attended a day-long Data-Driven Justice workshop hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The workshop provided an opportunity for Leon County to share its own best practices related to criminal justice and public health. He focused in particular on finding different ways to divert low-level offenders with mental illnesses out of the criminal system and improving pretrial incarceration.

Commissioner Desloge was elected President of the National Association of Counties in July 2016 and has made it his mission initiative to identify and disseminate the most compelling county policies and programs around the country that are making a difference in residents’ lives.

As President, Desloge serves on the NACo Executive Committee and represents more than 3,000 counties across the nation.
