Lafayette Street Improvements-Phase 2

PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS
  • The proposed improvements consists of an enclosed stormwater drainage system, a six-foot concrete sidewalk with scoring from the CSX Railroad pedestrian tunnel to Marvin Street, an eight-foot concrete sidewalk with scoring from Marvin Street to Seminole Drive, and Landscaping on the south side of the road.
  • A new 8-inch water main will be installed to replace the existing 6-inch pipe while the sanitary sewer service ties will be adjusted.
  • The Lafayette Street was originally built with concrete and was later paved over with asphalt. The concrete joints below the asphalt caused reflective cracking through the asphalt surface. More concrete joints will be created by the installation of the new stormwater conveyance system and the water and wastewater work. In order to improve drivability and to maintain integrity of the road, the concrete slab under the existing asphalt pavement will be removed and the road will be reconstructed
