Leon County Paints the Town Pink in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

During October, Leon County will join forces with partners throughout the community in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, there will be many reminders, activities and educational opportunities throughout Leon County as part of the community’s “Paint the Town Pink” initiative.

As part of the “Paint the Town Pink” initiative, Leon County has partnered with the Tallahassee Democrat to “drink pink for a good cause.” On Wednesday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Leon County will host a pink lemonade stand on the Leon County Courthouse lawn. All proceeds will be donated to the Joanna Francis Living Well organization.

Leon County Government will also participate in the “Paint the Town Pink” initiative through several County services.

• The Leon County Courthouse will be illuminated with pink lighting the evening of Wednesday, October 4.
• Leon County EMS Paramedics will wear pink medical gloves for all service calls during the month of October.
• The LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System, including the Collins Main Library (downtown) and its branch libraries, will feature select books.
• The Leon County website will feature a unique pink County seal.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a partnership of national public service organizations, professional medical associations and government agencies working together to promote breast cancer awareness and share information on the disease.
