Library Assistant
(Part-time, 20 hours per week @ Eastside Branch)
Public Service/Library/Ext.- Eastside
Salary Range: $8.23-$15.96 Hourly*

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  An employee in this position shelves and shifts books, library materials, and media equipment.  Responsibilities include shelving library materials accurately and in a timely fashion; removing incorrectly labeled or damaged books from collection; processes damaged library materials; empties book drops; check-in (discharge) materials using the library’s computerized circulation system; assists library patrons; provides computer assistance on library’s database, and answer phones when needed.

REQUIREMENTS:  Requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions.  Requires the ability to deal courteously with the public and staff and stand for long periods of time.  Must be able to lift library materials and media equipment in excess of 40 pounds and push book carts in excess of 50 pounds.  Knowledge of the alphabet and Dewey Decimal System is desirable.  Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends.
