Pre-trial Release Specialist
IDA/Supervised Pretrial Release Division
Salary Range: $14.40-$28.48 Hourly*
This position is responsible for interviewing
all individuals arrested and booked into the Leon County detention facility
while waiting for a decision to be made in regards to bail, bond, or release.
The incumbent in the position must also verify information by contacting release
defendants who meet pretrial release criteria.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: An employee in this
position interviews all persons arrested and booked into the Leon County Jail
accurately recording criminal history and personal information obtained from
defendant and/or the records so a decision can be made in regards to release or
detention for First Appearance; interviews arrestees booked into JIS during
shift; verifies and assists in release decisions; monitors and addresses
violations for defendants assigned to Global Positioning Satellite (GPS)
program; administers Alco-Breathalyzer testing and fee collections; provides
case management to assigned defendants in accordance with established office
procedures; provides courteous and professional guidance to defendants and
family on release conditions and makes appropriate referrals; prepares Order to
Show Cause Affidavits immediately upon becoming aware of a violation and submit
to the Court for issuance of a capias for arrest; confers with Judges, State
Attorneys, Public Defenders and private attorneys concerning the defendants
case(s); attends court proceedings, including First Appearance; identifies and
recommends to management implementable solutions for procedural improvements
that enhances the Divisionís ability to be more efficient and/or respond to
internal or external customer needs more quickly; prepares weekly, quarterly,
and monthly statistical reports for caseload.
Requires graduation from an accredited
four-year college or university with a Bachelorís degree in Criminology,
Criminal Justice, Sociology, or other related field, and two years of related
work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
The position supports 24/7 operations of the Supervised Pretrial Release
Division which requires applicants to be available to work flexible work
schedules including weekends and holidays. Employee must be able to work a
varying schedule on different days that includes,
7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am. Applicants
should possess basic computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft
Office software and Windows computer applications. Overtime may be required
during the absence or leave of other staff.
