Range: $10.00-$19.40 Hourly*

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  An employee in this position provides patrons with professional, courteous, and prompt service in response to requests for access to circulating materials by telephone, in person, and by mail; registers customers for library cards; provides access to library materials through utilization of computerized circulation and borrower service functions in DRA software; performs financial transactions for the collection of fines and fees for overdue, lost or damaged materials; prepares daily bank deposit reports for fiscal assistant; balances cash and check drawers to determine daily cash balance and allocation of funds collected; provides switchboard functions; responsible for training volunteers in appropriate circulation procedures; maintains records and up to date files of all returned mail; sorts materials into Dewey decimal groups to facilitate shelving.

REQUIREMENTS Requires graduation from a standard high school.  One year of clerical experience is preferred.  Requires skills in using computers, cash registers and switchboard. Must be able to monitor and interpret information given on a computer screen and relate this to patrons.  Must be able to push heavy bins and carts of books in excess of 50 pounds from book drops to check-in desk.  Must be able to bend and lift books and materials repeatedly throughout work shift.
